The Gathering Basket: February Edition
Have you become a new you yet? I haven't.
For Your Soul
It seems when the world is full of chaos, my antidote is to read and write poetry. This is the way that I still my soul.
For Your Eyes
Right after the inauguration, I deleted social media from my phone. The constant updates made me angrier with each refresh, affecting my attitude and energy.
I quit that platform when TikTok returned online with its thank-you note to Donald Trump. It seems that Zuckerberg is also paying homage to the president, which makes me question my use of Instagram, etc. I have seen some people even put Amazon on the chopping block. Making choices about being a person on the internet is hard.
My son and I watched some of The Good Place this week. In season 3, three to four episodes deal with how being a good person has become much more complex in the modern world. It felt incredibly relevant to today.
For Your Ears
If you need something soothing in the midst of all this, “gestures vaguely around.”
For Your Taste Buds
As we turn the corner of January to February the ache for fresh food becomes stronger. Yet, with the coming tariffs, I know that the cost of produce is going to rise exponentially. Freeze-dried and dried fruits are doing their best, with frozen vegetables filling in the gaps.
For Your Nose
You know how smells can be associated with people? Well, my twelve-year-old daughter is starting to develop her scent preferences and profile. She seems to be drawn to coconut predominately. I will be curious how this process goes.
When I was her age, I remember going to Bath and Body Works and wanting to smell grown up. I chose something like Midnight Cloud, and I definitely did NOT want to smell like cotton candy. My current hair products are Warm Cinnamon and Cider.
Tell me about your scent profile.
For Your Body
Hey, psst, what you started out with as exercise goals, you’re doing great. Baby steps are still steps. Forgetting, skipping, or being too busy are normal. Polar vortexes are really hard. So whatever you're doing, you're doing great!
