The Baptism
Is there a place for fire,
Sharp and searing the impurities away,
Creating room for something new?
Is there a place for wind,
Bitter and biting as it spreads
Seeds and dust to colonize new growth?
Is there a place for water,
Rapid and rushing through the scars,
Teeming with life-giving possibilities?
Is there a place for earth
Broken and scarred by the forces
Of fire, wind, and water, to heal again?
After the baptism of fire and water,
after the spread of wind on the earth
will we listen to the still, small voice of belovedness?

For the Ears
I appreciate the many musicians writing songs about their struggle with faith, doubt, and other things. “holy, holy” is a new one to me. Several of these came across my radar via TikTok. There are some “E” tags on some, as I think many who process religious trauma need more visceral words as they sort through their thoughts and feelings.
For the Eyes
Salmon return to the Klamath River as the dams come down.
A seed library is a great resource for different people to repair the land that natural or manmade disasters have destroyed.
For the Taste Buds
Tis the season for enjoying citrus, one of our favorite ways being shortbread with curd. While lemon is a perennial favorite, I recently made a grapefruit curd that was also delicious.
May this week bring peace to your senses and your soul.
I love the elemental approach to your poem.
Excellent use of the physical realm to feed the spirit of renewal & restoration to wholeness. Appreciated the alternating photos and texts for easier visualization and building of wonder.
