When I speak with a human on the phone
and work together to find a solution.
When someone sets a boundary
and makes it clear the benefits they see.
When the tears are shed, the nose is blown,
and the breathing becomes even again.
By wearing a gift from someone
who noticed my style and interests.
By eating a meal that was made
with time and served with grace.
By watching a movie that they like
while curled up side by side.
In the shoveling of snow, the raking of leaves,
and the tending of gardens all year long.
In sitting in bleachers and cheering
until my voice is raspy or gone.
In car sing-alongs, and shopping cart races
Connection is built in so many places.
With neighbors who have different worldviews
and family who think that we are confused.
With birds in the summer, stars in the sky,
each glowing sunset and sunrise.
With see the world with compassion
noticing that which makes us all human.

Thank you all for being readers and subscribers to my writing. It means a lot to me!
For the Ears
With the kids' help, we created a playlist called The Great Hall. It features songs that might be termed pub songs by adults but generally come from animated films. I hope this gives you some fun listening this week.
For the Eyes
I dabble in fiction writing and keep much of it behind a paywall. Here is a link if you are interested.
For the Taste Buds
Today, our family gets to eat cake and celebrate a fourth birthday. Making my children’s birthday cakes is one of my favorite things, more from the baking quality than the decorations. My youngest child requested a classic chocolate cake covered with sprinkles.
How do you feel about sprinkles?
May this week bring patience to your senses and your soul.
"By wearing a gift from someone

I love this.
I endured every single one of these lines, Caitlyn. Holidays are hard. Life is hard. Thank you for sharing.
